The Hunter Residences Program successfully delivered new homes for people with complex disabilities, supporting the transition of residents in the Hunter Valley from large institutional settings to community-based living.

The program provided accommodation for 330 people living with complex disabilities, offering tailored support to ensure high-quality care in their new homes. It marked the first project funded by the Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) initiative under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The building program encountered a number of challenges, including design change requests from clients and Supported Independent Living (SIL) Providers, both during and after construction. BlueCHP demonstrated strong capability in navigating these complexities. Particular credit to BlueCHP NSW Senior Development Manager, Glenn Amanonce, who took over the project late in the negotiation phase and led it through numerous obstacles. In addition to resolving design issues, Glenn also enhanced the project’s financial outcomes, boosting revenue by approximately 4.8 per cent, and ensured the program was delivered on time and under budget.

BlueCHP partnered with Compass Housing and Lighthouse Infrastructure Fund as part of the Home4Life consortium, which was selected by the NSW Government to deliver the program. Compass Housing provided tenancy management services, while Lighthouse Infrastructure Fund financed the $170 million development.
